Wonki and J ceramics is based in Melbourne and creates functional ceramic pieces designed to be natural, simple and practical for everyday life.

Rooted in Korean Buncheong tradition (Dumbung : directly dipped in slip› our work embraces iron-rich clay and with white slip, allowing natural textures, magical contrasts and tonal shifts to emerge through the firing process.

Korean buncheong ware was produced in 15C for relatively short period time (approximately 200years in a transition to white porcelain from celadon) but the love is still on going to the present for its simple character of humble beauty.

We give this tradition a contemporary twist through varied forms, with gentle touches of pigment from wild clay dug in Victoria - shaped by Korean heritage, Australian soil and a shared love of humble beauty.
